Post-Operative Care Instructions

• Mild discomfort and bleeding may occur on the day of your surgery.
• Follow all instructions carefully when taking your prescribed medications.
• Apply an ice pack to the surgical area for 10 minutes on and 5 minutes off throughout the day.
• Be sure to attend your next appointment for suture removal and follow-up care.
• Avoid lifting your lips or touching the treated area to inspect it.
• Refrain from brushing the teeth near the surgical site, but you can brush the rest of your mouth.
• Temporary numbness in the treated area is common, and the tooth may feel slightly loose.
• Avoid smoking, spitting, or using a straw on the day of surgery (and try to refrain from smoking for a few days afterward).
